This section of the website is for people who have been diagnosed with cancer, their families and friends. All are welcome.

The list below includes all known cancer support groups in the Plymouth area.  Click on a group to expand the information.

If you can’t find a group for your type of cancer please contact the Just Cancer Support Group below.

There is advice and support too at Macmillan Cancer Support, which offers a free helpline 8am-8pm 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00
and at The Mustard Tree, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Derriford on 01752 430060.

Groups that are part of the Network are represented at network meetings, take part in training, and organise joint events.

The Bladder and Kidney Cancer Support Group meets 12.30-14.00 on the 2nd  Monday of each month at the Mustard Tree. All welcome.

Brain Tumour Support Devon, Cornwall & Plymouth

has monthly brain tumour support groups take place in:

  • Exeter – First Friday in the month
  • Plymouth – Last Friday in the month
  • Truro – Second Tuesday in the month

Home visits available by request.

The service is available to both the patient and family members who are also affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.

Bosom Pals Social Group meets from 7pm every 4th Wednesday of the month at Fort Stamford Health and Social Club

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia Support is  a friendly group supporting those with CLL. Meeting dates available via the website

Gynae Girls is a social group for women affected by any form of gynaecological cancer (cervical, ovarian, etc). We meet to share experiences, hold social events and raise awareness  of these cancers. We meet on the last Monday of each month from 6.30 p.m at The Invicta Hotel, 11-12 Osbourne Place PL21 2PU just off Plymouth Hoe

The Plymouth Head & Neck Cancer Support Group was, unfortunately, forced to disband at the end of 2020 due to a lack of volunteers to run it.

British Lung Foundation – Breathe Easy Support Group is a support group for anyone affected by a lung cancer diagnosis. Meets 1.30-3.30-p.m. at Tothill Community Centre, Knightion Road, St Judes, Plymouth, PL4 9DA.

Plymouth Lymphoma Support Group  meets for clinical and social talks with a bit of social time, friendship and a listening ear. Meets at Derriford Centre for Health and Wellbeing.

Dashnet supports all men diagnosed with cancer. Meets last Tuesday of the month 10am to noon and 6-8pm at The Brook Inn, Plympton We believe that nobody should ever have to wake up to the news that they have cancer and also that nobody should ever have to go through it alone. We at Dash are proud of Dashnet, our men affected by cancer support group here in Plymouth.

During the coronavirus pandemic the Plymouth Prostate Cancer Support Group have easy to use, weekly group video calls (using ZOOM). You only need am internet conneection + basic computer with a camera and microphone, or smart phone.
